Understanding color science requires a highly analytical approach. It is not about randomly moving sliders in Adobe Lightroom until an image looks good. It is about understanding how human psychology reacts to different color harmonies and applying those principles to structural geometry. Whether I am editing the warm, historic limestone of Cairo or the cool, reflective glass of Frankfurt, my post-processing workflow is as structured and deliberate as a construction schedule.
The Foundation of White Balance
Before you can creatively manipulate color, you must establish a technically accurate baseline. Modern camera sensors are incredibly powerful, but their auto-white-balance systems can easily be fooled by mixed urban lighting.
Establishing a neutral starting point is critical for your editing workflow. If your white balance is skewed from the beginning, every subsequent color adjustment will push the image further out of alignment. I always shoot in raw format to ensure I have complete, lossless control over the temperature and tint in post-production. Because paper relies on reflected ambient light, printed colors often appear slightly darker and less saturated than they do on a screen. Before uploading any file to platforms like 1x.com or Inprint, I utilize soft-proofing tools to simulate how the specific paper type will render the final colors.
